Peace and Security

Our programming on peace and security focusses on tackling the underlying causes of conflicts in Africa. We are keen to strengthen influence, shape and support adoption of progressive security and related policies at the national and regional levels supported by decisions of the African Union Peace and Security Council (AUPSC). Aligning with the Global Rights in Crisis Campaign, our key interventions will include:
- Knowledge For Peace Project: This project seeks to build a repertoire of emerging knowledge on Conflict, State Fragility and Migration. We shall support independent and Collaborative research and knowledge building forums that will shape country, regional, pan African and global discourses and narratives and dissemination of the outcomes to key decision makers.
- Inclusivity and Representative Diplomacy: Ensuring that the voices of communities who are at risk or affected by conflicts and disasters are included and considered in national dialogues, regional mechanisms such as ECOWAS, SADC and IGAD and policy making at the African Union.
- Not in My Country Campaign: A continental campaign advocating for the stopping of illicit arms which fuel conflict in Africa and raising the urgency, ratification and implementation of the Arms Trade Treaty. This shall contribute to efforts towards Agenda 2063 on silencing the guns by 2020.
